Tax Query

in Cutting tax
Hello,
Any help would be much appreciated. My father is in a care home and is self funding we have been trying to sell his house, unsuccessfully) to fund the care home fees however after three failed house sales over the last 2 years we have decided to take it off the market and rent it out to generate some much needed income. I have power of attorney over my father and will be dealing with the self assessment side on his behalf for any rental income but my question is due to my father being in a care home self funding, already paying tax on his pension is there any other type of tax relief or benefits who could be receiving to help him. My dad receives his state pension(possible widows pension as my mother died 2 years ago) and pension from employer.
If there is anything my dad could be benefiting from could someone let me know as it seems so unfair that he is paying £500 a week of his own money in care home fees and is being taxed on rental income from his property which pays for the care home.
Thanks
Lorraine

Your father pays tax like anybody else in his age/income bracket?
If he were still living at home he would be paying for food, utilities etc?
