How long to book in a valuation

Options
We've had an offer accepted subject to survey. They won't budge on taking it off market until we have got survey booked in. Will be dropping in completed application and supporting documents to IFA on mon morning. He will process it on mon pm. Mortgage is with Abbey. He said survey will be booked in within 48hrs. Is this a realistic timescale?

Yes if your mortgage is accepted by Abbey its a realistic timescale, Abbey are one of the quicker lenders for straightforward cases

Good luck with your purchase, and try not to let the vendor dampen your spirits, don't know what happens to people when it comes to property and money, it can turn them from normal human beings into monsters!

Is it 48 hours for them to book in the valuation, or will the valuation be done within 48 hours? If it's just to book it, how soon is it usually carried out?

It depends on the work load of the surveyor in question and what type of survey you opted for.

A basic survey would normally be done within a few days of being instructed

I just mean the valuation survey. The full structural would be done at a later date wouldn't it?

If you have asked for a basic valuation only from Abbey, they will do that for you.

If you have asked them to do a full survey then they will carry it out all at the same time.

If you are arranging your own full structural, Abbey do not need to see that, so they will issue a mortgage offer letter on the basis of the basic survey

We will arrange own full structural more than likely as don't want it carried out until the vendors have found somewhere to buy. If we asked Abbey to this, could they do it at a later date to the valuation?

No - but you could always get back in contact with the surveyors who carry out the basic survey to see if they will do it for you.
