You are in the right place - don't panic! As debsue said - just post your Statement of Affairs asap and then you will get some advice on where to start cutting back/ moving things around etc.

PHONE CALLS ARE FROM ALL MAJOR CREDIT CARD COMPANIES. WE HAVE RANG MOST OF THEM AND ASKED TO GO ON PAYMENT PLANS BUT STILL UNABLE TO MEET PAYMENTS THAT THEY ARE ALL REQUESTING. WE HAVE A MORTGAGE BUT NO EQUITY IN PROPERTY....... SHOULD WE GO FOR AN I.V.A OR DECLARE OURSELVES B/R?

NO NOT YET. Please, post up your SOA. It is really crucial to sorting this out. You may not have to do either. Honestly if there is a way to sort this then it is on here. But we need to know everything. Inside leg measurments if needs be. We cant give you the advice you need without it. and well done for knowing you have a problem. This is the first step to sorting things out.

Put your SOA up on this thread. Read through Southernscousers sticky at the top of the board and please stop writing in capitals, it looks as though you are shouting.

I know it sounds easy, but try not to panic. It's debt not murder.
The endless phone calls definitely don't help the situation, but you can take some interim steps to try and stop them:
Go to the National Debtline website (there are links at the top of the page - for free debt counselling services) The National Debtline have a series of template letters, one of which is a general letter telling your creditors that you are experiencing problems, and asking them to hold any action for a month, whilst you take professional advice.
Before looking at bankruptcy, there are many other possible solutions, which will be more apparent when you have posted your SOA.
You can also talk to CCCS or PAYPLAN - they are debt-counselling charities and their advice is free. Again there are links at the top of the page.
    Good Luck.
I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.
