What is the cheapest "squeaky clean" hand wash?

Hi. I've been experimenting with different brands of hand wash for the bathroom, to find an inexpensive brand and...sub-type or color (?), which gives your hands that "squeaky clean" feeling, but unfortunately couldn't. Does anyone have a tip regarding this?

To elaborate, I'm just the type of person who has been used to a specific feeling in my skin after I clean my hands, and the best way I can describe that feeling is with the "squeaky clean" phrase. I simply really dislike a creamy feeling on my hand after I finish washing them; I don't want to moisturize or lotion my hands with soap; I can do that with real hand cream or so when I want. I want to wash my hands and almost hear them squeaking when rubbed against a surface with water. And looking for a hand wash brand (and color or sub-name if applicable) to do that for me.

And I'd rather get it as liquid hand wash, not soap.

Any tips from more experienced shoppers would be appreciated. Thank you.

I also deplore the amount of conditioners that get put in liquid soaps and also in shower gels - it feels as if you have a residue left on your body, or that it hasn't been rinsed off properly! The idea of them is to fake the effect of moisturiser, but they are not moisturisers, and don't actually moisturise.

Your best bet is to try the really cheap own-label or value items from supermarkets and Boots, Superdrug etc. They are unlikely to be quite so loaded with these conditioning ingredients. Waitrose sell Droyts liquid soap, -which I confess I haven't tried for years and which might well have changed- and that is one of the very, very few, true liquid soaps as opposed to detergent soaps. It is difficult to load a true soap with these conditioning "moisturising" ingredients - the chemicals involved don't work well together. However it also isn't cheap.

Le Petit Marseillais savon liquide antibacterienne 300ml 4.50 French Click www.frenchclick.co.uk obviously not the cheapest (although it's a supermarket item in France and less expensive there. Does the job though.

For a long time now we have been using Tesco value baby bath as a liquid hand wash. I decant it into an old bottle that has a pump dispenser and it's brill. Doesn't dry your hands out but also doesn't leave them with the creamy feeling you mentioned. It used to be 11p for 500ml but in recent weeks it's gone up to 46p. Oh and it's a pale glossy blue colour :D

    you could try swarfega! lol
  • This is the best handwash I have ever used.
Currently £1.99 in John Lewis and around £2.49 in Sainsbury's.
Not the cheapest to buy but it lasts around 4 times longer than the cheaper ones so works out much cheaper.

    Define clean.
    I'm not that way reclined

Jewelry? Seriously? Sheldon you are the most shallow, self-centered person I have ever met. Do you really think that another transparently-manipu... OH, IT'S A TIARA! A tiara; I have a tiara! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me! Put it on me!

The pain of writing forum replies of paragraphs then something like "token expired" is the next page you see, and the forum doesn't have your text when you click Back. Probably my most infuriating experience on the web. *sigh*

Thank you very much for all your replies, everyone. I have several options now to try until I am happy with one, as soon as my current hand wash is finished.

And clean in my context means no cream, grease, general dirt and dust, or general food residue on my skin; bacteria are fine. And my finger tips "squeak" when robbed against each other or a smooth surface with water as mentioned.

I feel your pain about the forum replies going missing! I usually get distracted when typing replies, do something else, come back and click submit only for it to disappear because it's been too long. Now I try to remember to highlight my whole post, right click, copy then submit. Then if it disappears I have it copied then just paste the copy and submit again......if that makes sense :D

Just to add to my value baby bath recommendation.....When I used it earlier I tested to see if it would pass your 'squeak' test and it did :)

Thank you very much, Shelly. I think it will be the first option I try. Hope I can find an equivalent in Morrison's since I do not live near a Tesco anymore unfortunately.
