Being chased after full and final settlement
I agreed a full and final settlement of a Citifinancial loan 2 years ago and got a letter from them confirming the same (it does say full and final payment).
In January this year I got a letter from Citi stating that they were selling my loan to another company. I just ignored it as I thought 'no, can't mean me, I paid it off'.
Got a letter from the new finance company a month or so later welcoming me to their company and I need to do nothing as the direct debit would be carried over. Again, ignored it as there was no direct debit in place and nor had there been since the full and final payment in Oct 2012. No money has gone to the new company.
Well, got another letter from the new finance company today saying they were disappointed I hadn't contacted them and would I please do so as matter of urgency to arrange payment of the oustanding amount.
What should I do? Do I continue to ignore the new company? Do I call them and offer them a copy of the letter? The letters are being sent to my daughter's address as I was temporarily living there waiting for our house purchase to go through when the loan was paid off. Do I update them on my new address?
Many thanks for your help.

personally i would just send them a copy of the letter registered post, add a covering letter but dont sign it just type your name, then ignore any future letters0

No need not to sign a letter, as the op has a letter from the oc stating full and final settlementDon't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.0

A friend had this exact problem, except the "debt" was 3 debt collection companies down the road before we managed to resolve it!
Write to them politely with a copy of the settlement confirmation letter. Tell them that if they try to take you to court then the judge will be unimpressed since you have provided proof that the debt isn't owed. Ask for confirmation from them that they have a) received your letter, b) that they acknowledge that you do not owe the money and c) that they will not pass this "debt" on to another party for collection.
And send it by registered post. If they insist on seeing the original settlement letter, get a certified copy done at a solicitors (it costs about £5) and send them that, not the original.
Good luck!
If you do nothing then they WILL pursue you and nobody wants that hassle!....Practically Perfect in Every Way......:grinheart0 -
I shall send the original letter by registered post then with a covering letter as suggested.

Nan,
Make sure you at least keep a copy of the original letter.
I would personally suggest getting a 10p photocopy in the High Street and sending that so you keep the original. If they respond that they don't consider the letter genuine and need to see the original then you can subsequently arrange to provide that.Optimists see a glass half full
Pessimists see a glass half empty

No! That's not what I said! Do NOT send them the original because that is what you will need if ever this has to go to court!!!! Send a photocopy first and then a certified copy!....Practically Perfect in Every Way......:grinheart0 -
