Evening All,
I am on a fixed term contract which started in June 2012 and ends at the end of September 2012 (4 Months).
DO I have a right to sick pay?
So far since joining I have had 2 days of bereavement and 1 day of sick pay however I am cocerned as my contract states in the long term sickness point otherwise (please see attached).
What are my rights?
Many Thanks

13.4 part (a) says you are not entitled to company sick pay until you have worked 6 months, you can claim ssp depending on your wage.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

Is that not for just long term sickness though as per its heading?London, UK0

OP if you leave the job at the end of this month why do you need to know if you get paid?
As I read it you have to be there 6 months to get paid sick leave and you would have only been there 40 -

It is any sickness absence. The use of "long-term sickness absence" as a paragraph heading is misleading. It is really about sickness absence full stop and for how long the discretionary company sick pay is available.
During your four months if you were sick you would be entitled to SSP only.0 -
Thank you for your response.
I am still sick today (hopefully my last day ill) and regardless I have tomorrow pre-booked as Annual leave.
Would I still qualify for SSP when I return on Monday?London, UK0 -
If you are still sick you can cancel your hols and take the time as sick on ssp instead, then you can have your hols later on or be paid for them at the end of your contract.Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

What do I need to do to prove SSP as with normal sickness I don't need a doctors note unless I have been ill for more than 7 days.
What is the best way to go about this and make sure SSP would be paid?London, UK0 -
You fill in a self certification form which your company should provide.
They must them pay SSP by law from day four of your absence.
Depending on the size of the firm they may be able to indirectly get this money back from the government but that is not your problem.
You cannot lose holiday as a result of being sick.0 -
Your employer should administer as part of their sick reporting policy

You need to be sick any 4 days in a row and the first 3 working days are not paid.
these days may not bethe same
eg
If you work Monday to Friday and become sick on a Friday. Your waiting days will be Friday, Monday and Tuesday. If you continue to be sick, SSP will be paid from Wednesday.0
