Dodgy call?

I had a call today from an blocked number from someone called Adam who said I had been selected as a possible winner of an iPhone 4s and while the winner was still to be picked and my name had been selected as a possible winner he wanted to go through some free offers with me. I told him I was on my way to an appointment & was not interested in any offers but he said he would call me back again as i was entitled to the prizes. Sounded dodgy to me & his English was not the best. Had anyone else had anything like this? Am I right to be concerned?

Did he say which company he was calling from? Ive had that before, but I 'won' an iphone and an ipad, but I had to listen to some offers. He started off going on about a free sim. I decided that as I hadn't entered any comp from where he said he was from (I think he said survery something or other - cant remember now) I haven't won it. Thats the main rule I stick to, if you didnt enter it, you didnt win it. Sorry sounds like a sales call to me. Of course I could be wrong, but Id go with your gut instinct. Sorry.Current Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday
Best Wins: Ipad, Nintendo 3DS, £400 Shopping Spree at LK Bennett, £100 Boots vouchers
Total Wins (Since April 2012) £3442.56
Big thanks to all who post comps :T:beer:0 -

Contradiction in terms here.
Maybe then definitely, very dodgy, he will go on to try to sell you something, you dont buy and the call is terminated.
Go with your instincts, nobody gives you something for nothing these days, specially companies you have never heard of.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
I think it's definately something a bit dodgy as I have an iPhone already so don't bother entering any comps for mobile phones, which makes me think it was a sales call of some sorts. Plus they never called back! Anytime I have had a WTC they have never withheld their number either!Nov - organix hamper & £50 tesco voucher

I've only ever had about 3-4 wtc and they are usually straight to the point, as..........
Hello am I speaking to (name?)
You entered a competition with.... to win a ....
congratulations you have been picked as our winner!
As in withheld numbers though, I won an ipad 2 in may and the number was blocked and very nearly didn't answer
If this turns out not a win, good luck anyway, who knows whats round the corner

I think I had the same call today from an Indian woman who said I entered a competition for £10,000 and an iPhone and she just needed to confirm my details. I said "sorry I didn't catch that, what competition was this, did I win something?" then she paused and just repeated the exact same thing she said before! Then she told me about some offers (something about the Euromillions?) and I said I wasn't interested. She asked "why not???" she was a pain to get rid of and I felt very uneasy about it, definitely dodgy.:j0

mymble - that sounds very much like my call, when I asked where they were falling from he just repeated his speech again. I definately think that some comp in the past week has sold on my details as all of a sudden I am getting these calls & emails from people who allegedly work in African banks who have millions of pounds they want to deposit into
my account to share from millionaires accounts who have died with no next of Kin. I always make sure that I opt out of anything as well & that all the emails are just an annoying part of comping, but am a bit unsettled by these latest two.Nov - organix hamper & £50 tesco voucher
