i haven't but i did go in there on the weekend to discuss options. I have an account with them and would get £300 cashback if i choose to go with them.0

I have a Leeds mortgage but used a broker. It didn't take long to set up and the customer service is excellent whenever I have telephoned.Life is not the way it’s supposed to be. It’s the way it is. The way you cope with it is what makes the difference.0

I used to work at another brokers, they used them a fair bit... generally pretty good experience.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I quite like Leeds, they are a bit picky, slow and underwrite in a very strange ongoing way but are ok.
Some of their products do come with Home Insurance as part of the product though, so double check when comparing products as you obviously pay for the insurance and it is not market leading cost wise.I am a Mortgage Broker

I have just had my mortgage accepted by Leeds. (I am a first time buyer so very new to this)
I found them to be very slow and unorganised. It took eight slow weeks of them asking for information from me that I'd already supplied two weeks previously. This happened again and again.
If I hadn't already paid the upfront fee and had the valuation survey, I would have taken my mortgage application elsewhere.
By week 7.5, I was so frustrated with them, I started reading online reviews and found that many other people had had the same problems as me.
If you are able to use a broker with them, I'd suggest you doing that otherwise I fear you'd be in the same frustrating position as me in two months time.0 -
I've just had dealing with the Leeds via my broker and I have to say I thought they were slow and, to cut a long story short, in the end I didn't use them and had to re-apply for another mortgage through another lender. So all in I've wasted a lot of time, looked like a mug infront of the people I am trying to buy off and I'm out of pocket.
My broker said 'they have good deals, and if it all goes through you're fine, but any slight thing can derail it as they are more 'picky'
I wasn't looking for a massive mortgage and for a couple or reason (one being I didn't want to lie on my application, that cost me £200 to be honest) they came back and offered me 20k less that the 'agreed in principal'
I'm sure like most things in life there are good and bad experiences, but I'd just like to tell my side so people can make up their own mind.
Fingers crossed there will be not more hitches.0 -
A lot use them because they do shared ownership with only 5% deposit. No other game in town for that business.I am a mortgage broker. Very slow....full application submitted on 5th November....still waiting to hear. They seem to take a week to respond to anything.
Was hoping to be in our new house by Christmas0 -
An old forum but thought I'd share my experience of the Leeds Building Society Mortgage process.
Got my DIP in October 13 then had to wait for my full offer until the 30th December 13, if I had not have been buying from a family member I would have not got the house. They tend to miss place information and paperwork which you have to send in again, once this is done you go back to the bottom of the pile and wait 6 days for them to address your file again. Even once the full offer was received it was a further 8 weeks before completion due to the incompetency of the Leeds Building Society.
On the surface the mortgage offer was great with a low interest rate and a reputable company like the Leeds to back it up but once you have parted with you initial fees the problems begin.0
