New glasses not strong enough

My optician said my eyesight had improved slightly so I bought new glasses at great cost for very thin varifocals.
I now find that they are not strong enough - the reading part is fine but I find the distance part is too weak. I really strain to see the credits on tv programmes and now wear my old ones in the evening.
When I rang the optician he just said the prescription is right and I would get used to them.
Is there anything I can do?

How long have you had them? I believe it does take time to get used to a new prescription, but I don't know how long.Signature removed for peace of mind0

give them a week or two, if the vision still does not seem right then go back to the optician, explain that you have tried them for 1-2 weeks but the vision still seems better with your old ones, they should offer you a retest (another eye test) for free and if a different prescription is found they should change the lenses for you free of charge.Wiggly:heartpulsFB0
