Hi Dave and hi Redapple
Looks as though I got confused. The mortgage adviser for Halifax had instructed the valuation for when he was on holiday. We applied the 31st Aug the valuation money came out my bank the 3rd Sep and the valuation was done ok the 6th. Valuation was ok as well. Mortgage adviser got bk to work Monday and advised us today that all good news and offer coming out in the post.
We have now been asked to pay the solicitor so he can start the searches etc. I have aged 10 years in just over a week lol. Thank you for replying to my posts and for your help0 -
Great news - said you would be fine.
Try not to now start stressing about the legals/chain, it can become tiresome but you are nearly on the home straight now.

That's Execllent news :j I got my mortgage with Halifax and they were really quick with everything, although like yourself I was constantly worried that they would turn me down. My application was sent off to be underwritten and I had to send in 3x payslips and bank statements and proof of tax credits. I received my mortgage offer on the 25th of July and completed on my first purchase at August 30!! Sounds like its all going great for you, it's a very stressfull time but well worth it. Good luck with everything x0

Thanks again Dave x
Hi Laura, congratulations. That was quite quick wasn't it. I'm going to try and keep calm now. I think I might go round the bend otherwise lol. Good luck in your new home

Thanks poppyflower25,
I was constantly trying to tell myself to stop stressing out, it's a wonder I'm not grey! I think I drove my friends and family mad too! I'm sure it will all work out great for you, especially if you have your mortgage offer. Can be a little slow for the next few weeks while solicitors do there bit. Are you're sellers in a chain or is the property empty? Xx0 -
The sellers are relocating up North. They have found a house which is empty as the owners have just had a new house built, so not much of a chain. I am going to try not to stress but I really don't think I'll rest until the keys are in my hand lol. My friends just switch off from me now though lol. Xx0

Yep, our Halifax mortgage advisor said the same
She was also good as she got it all organised before she went away so once the survey came back fine the offer was sent out straight away. So far, Halifax have been great :T
We're currently waiting for a search and some 'raised enquiries' whatever that means to come back, then organise exchange and completion. We have a time limit as got to be out of our current rental by end of month. But Halifax have got through things very quickly, and we will be getting the £1k cashback which will help enormously towards stamp duty

Hi Digital Phase. Glad it has been quick for you too. I bet you cannot wait now to get moved in. That £1k cash back is excellent. Luckily we get away with paying stamp duty as the house was only £124995. We just missed it. We are putting the £1k in our ISA as an emergency bill money fund, should we need it in the future. Once we have paid deposit and solicitors fees we will be broke so luckily my partners parents have offered to furnish the whole house for us. Thank you for your reply and good luck

Hi Dave,
I worked as a mortgage underwriter for nationwide for many yrs and as your probably aware they closed down many of the mortgage centres. Is the Halifax application process much different to NBS? I'm really worried about the info the mortgage advisor in branch is giving my partner when he speaks to her if I'm not around in regards to the process, affordability and 2nd property. Are all applications sent to the underwriters for the actual mortgage offer to be produced? This is what I expect but not what we've been informed?
Hope this makes sense
