You can get it brought back in house as i do this all the time for my clients with a 100% success rate

    Of course you do...
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.

Hi Hitchin. There is a really useful factsheet on the National Debtlines website on dealing with bailiffs and council tax debt. As long as you do not let the bailiffs in and they do not levy on anything such as a car you may own, the maximum they can charge is about 42.50 ish which is for 2 visits in an attempt to levy on goods but where they have failed. They may try and frount loads their fees etc so watch out for this. Oh and you may also have to pay the fees by the council to get a liability order which may be around 90/100 pounds of so (it is not clear if you have already been told of this).
I will try and post some useful links for you.

Edit: Really useful letter in post no.17 if you suspect the bailiff have added illegal charges at any point (not that they have yet) : https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4157461
Edit: Factsheet from National Debtline on dealing with bailiffs and council ta is here: http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/factsheet.php?page=02_bailiffs_and_council_tax
Also do remember that pretty much everyone who posts on here posts in their own time so you can't be guaranteed an instant response!! If you have any further troubles post back and I'm sure someone will try and help.
