New calculations

In the past 13 years I have never asked for the CSA to recalculate my payments I was on the old scheme. In May I decided to ask for it to be re-assesed it came back with a new schedule within a few weeks. Last week I got another new schedule telling me I was now on the new scheme 15% of earnings and my payments from the ex have dropped also I have noticed his earnings are different and have reduced dramaticly.

I am not bothered that they have changed the scheme but I have a question...

Could he have asked his employer to pay him basic and not pay him any overtime for 8 weeks so that he could ask for it to be reassessed so that he does not have to ay as much csa?

Many thanks for ant replies

No idea, but I don't understand why you've just been changed to the new system :-s I thought they'd stopped that unless requested by PWC (13 week closure then reopen) or if an application was made against the NRP in regard to another child.
If women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?
  • They just changed it no idea why? But I do know he has an 8 year old daughter with his wife and they have just split up could this be the reason why they have changed it? Also if this is the case could he have reduced his hours at work because of this?

Ah,that could be why.And it's possible he may have,it does happen unfortunately.

Yes, that will be why the case has migrated - the new case will be opened on CS2, so your case will also be on CS2.

I guess that there's a possibility that his working patterns have changed if he's going through major changes in his life, ie splitting up with his wife and so on. It might be worth waiting a few months and then asking for another assessment on the grounds of his working patterns maybe going back to 'normal'.
  • Many thanks for your replies my head is in a spin at the moment with it all as its just not my csa claim we dont know where we stand with my husbands payments to his ex... His daughter is 18 left college in May and is not going back and is working but we are still paying CSA they have told us we still have to pay it and that they will try and get in touch with his ex. If we have overpaid will we get it back?

You would have to pay up til the first Monday in September, when the CB for that child should stop, but if the PWC does not inform the CB office you will have to continue paying until CB stops....might be worth ringing the CSA about this, they can do a CB check.....we had to go through this earlier this year when QC dropped out of college but CB was still being claimed , in the end the CSA had a ''quiet'' word with PWC and CB was stopped in May, we still had to pay Junes as its paid in arrears but we did get a weeks payment back.

If you have been assessed at 15% then it is incorrect, there could not be a new case open as it would be 20% split between the 2.

Unless of course they notified you of staging when moving over to the new scheme..!

Question it immediately and don't take no for an answer.
