Hubbie took frozen sarnies to work for first time!

Options
Cheese ones. And he said they were nicer than fresh ones lol (think that may be because he was saving money!). I bought a loaf yesterday on it's last day (a nice one) which was half price (70p). I made the whole lot up with £1 of cheese. So, £1.70 for his sarnies for the week. I've told him to keep the freezer bags so that I can re-use!!

Thanks for all your advice so far. I'm feeling much better for spending less, there's a kind of 'wealth' to it in itself. By not wasting, I feel like a much classier bird!!

  • £1.70 for a weeks worth of sandwiches is fab :T

Great to hear cheese sandwiches freeze well cause they are my favourite and I am always looking for ways to save time and money.

  • You can do it the other way round too... freeze bread, prise off slices from the frozen loaf with a blunt knife and make the sandwich with frozen bread. This way you can have fresh salad!

  • I did that for years for DH and myself when we were strapped for cash. Sliced beef, lamb, pork, cheese etc. Remains of the Sunday roast usually. All in the door of the big freezer so you could just take yr pick in the morning. DH doesn't like salad so just had sandwiches, apple and a yoghurt but I used to take a chopped salad too because they were a bit boring for me.

my kids are all taking frozen ham tiger baps to school for the week. i got whoopsied rolls and whoopsied ham, whoopsied frubes. So 6 days of ham baps and frubes for 3 kids for £3. Of course I have bought the fruit, toms/cucumber and made the banana bread but still comes in at under £8 which is the cost of 1 week school lunches for 1!!! :D
