Dormant policy - Joint names - How to claim

Hi there,
I wonder if anyone can help. I'm in the process of trying to claim the contents of a dormant cgu policy. The policy is in joint names (mine and ex-partners). I haven't had any contact with my ex-partner since 1996 and have no idea where he is or even if he's alive.
1st question - Will the company (now aviva) pay at least half the policy to me without too much of a struggle?
2nd question - What sort of proof would they accept that I've done a really thorogh search and he can't be found?
Thanks so much for your time
Ali

Hi Ali,
I'll happily check this out for you. Would you be able to email me the following details:- Your full name
- The full name of your ex-partner
- Your date of birth
- Full address listed on the policy and new address if different
- The type of policy it is (Life, Healthcare, Endowment etc) and the policy reference number if you have it
I look forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards,
Martin Banwell
