Hi all,
I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but no doubt the mod will move it to its proper home if it isn't!
Basically I got a a really fab, expensive kingsize feather quilt from Debenhams years ago, and while I was on holiday one of my cats has decided to pee on it.
I have no idea how to clean it. I don't want to use a drycleaners because a) it will be expensive, and b)I have sent cat soiled things to them before and and they have still been smelly when they get back.
Does anyone have any idea about how I can go about cleaning it at home? It is pretty heavy and thick and about a million togs. Or do you think it is done for and needs binning:sad::sad::sad:?
Many Thanks,
Lise

Take it to the launderette and use one of the big machines and then the large dryers; if it's a really good one it will be worth the expense.
We have 6 cats and 2 dogs (so understand the problem) and we wash our duvets every year at the end of the summer and winter seasons.
You have to be very careful about dry cleaning duvets, regardless of what it says on the labels.0 -
You can machine wash feather quilts. Use a cool wash of about 40'C and biological powder to get the pee out, top spin and then resign yourself to feeding the tumble dryer quite a lot of money. Don't skimp on the drying, it's what puffs it up and also if you leave the slightest damp in a feather quilt it will go mouldy. So it's worth giving it an extra air out even after you bring it home.Val.0

Thanks, I wasn't sure if it was possible because it is so hard to machine wash feather pillows - but I don't have a dryer at home whhich is probably the answer to that!Live the good life where you have been planted.
