I posted information about this last year on the music forum but as it's only suitable for people who live in or near Leeds then I figured that this was probably the best place this time round.
Leeds Music centres open for enrolment on Saturday 8th Sept and if your interested in learning an instrument then I would really recommend them. I've been learning the clarinet for the last 2 years and there is no way I could afford private lessons but these music centres are run by the council and they work out at about half the price. A half hour lesson costs £4.15 and £3.65 for kids. I reckon it would be about 3 times this price for private lessons. They also do cheap rates for families and people on benefits. I think there are about 9 or 10 of them around the city based in school buildings at the weekend. The one I go to is called North Leeds Music Centre and it happens on a Saturday morning at Carr Manor High School. There's loads of instruments to choose from, all the teachers also work as music tutors in schools.
They are really good about letting you have a go before you decide and if you can’t make it you can go to the lessons on the following weeks and pay then, the details of where all the music centres are and what lessons they offer can be found on the Leeds Music Service Website which is called ArtForms or just search Leeds Music Centres
