Should i be paying tax?

I have only just started my first job at the beginning of August, working part time and still receiving job seekers allowance as i'm only doing a handful of hours. I've worked there a month today and after calculating tax, i've been taxed around a third of my pay so i was wondering who i should contact if i shouldn't be getting taxed, or will i be getting this back?

Difficult to give a definate answer as you have given so little detail; but if you have really paid a third in tax something might be going wrong. Can you give details of gross and tax for all wages recieved so far?
You need to give full details of all earnings this tax year, and all taxable jobseekers payments. What tax code and basis is being used by your employer. Did you have a P45 (if so details)? Did you fill in a P46 (if so details)?
