Well there is a real ethical question.

From experience, I know that when the bank made an error in my favour on my business account, they did come across it, albeit about three months later.

There is nothing I can advise as it is a real question of conscience. Personally I would own up (probably!)

Just don't spend it for a while yet. There is a very good chance the bank will find out.

Hopefully someone who works in a bank will post.

  • I know its silly to even think of keeping it really but if they don't realise there error? They have all charged us enough in the past!

you could withdraw it again and use it as an interest free loan because they are highly likely to find it

Take it out and stick it in their highest interest account, the money is not yours you know that, they will eventually find it and come asking for it. You have no legal right to keep it and they will sue you for it if you have not got it but you can get a bit more money off them by claiming interest from them through their own account.
