  • Cheers. I actually prefer the first to find it as it makes it more fun... and I like it when it's really difficult to find as well. Just yeah, a preview of the pic (not a preview of it with any of the bg where it's hidden, be too easy) but the large original .png/jpg you use to insert into the other pics at a decent size. That would be great!

Yeah that's what we mean, show the image before we hide it.

    Thank you sir.
  • I think having it be difficult makes it fun especially when there is a decent prize involved, but in this instance is was near impossible because of the blurry quality of the image. A preview image would solve that as people would know they're not looking for a recognizable Kindle, or whatever item.

As to the first to find vs all correct answers, random draw from all correct answers makes more sense to me but if you do choose to stick with first to find perhaps launch the competition at different times/days rather than always Monday morning to give people who can't search at the particular time a chance.
  • I thought it was very difficult to find, however I feel this is a good thing if you want the competition to last well into the 5 day period. Also this means that more people will be able to participate. Personally I feel that it should be announced as soon as someone has found the prize so that others are not pointlessly searching (that is if you decide to continue with having the first person winning the prize).

Perhaps if you kept it as the first person to find it wins it you could offer different prizes as runner up prizes to the next 2 or 3 to find it, also regarding the point in the terms & conditions stating "You can email in with as many answers/guesses as you like within the competition time frame to: info@abneyandtealclub.com." perhaps you could limit it to 1 email a day as there is nothing to stop someone from emailing 1 link from each site every 5 mins or so, until they have email in all possible links. This way they would end up stumbling across the image without even knowing where it was and might even win it.

Im the same with these types of comps they just arent worth entering as its too much hassle when you think in the time you spend looking you could enter 20+ other comps, and you arent told if its been won, its like whats the point.
If there was a clear indication that the said item has been found (and a pic of what youre looking for) then you know if its worth entering or not.
Still comping, after 2 heart attacks 4th feb & 6th feb, and a stent put in.. 45 years old only:eek:
  • It might be worthwhile to ask for someone to take a screenshot and put an arrow pointing to where they believe the image to be, rather than as Comping Rich said, people copying all links and sending numerous emails with a link in and then getting it correct without realising, then you actually have to find it.

I still think all correct answers to be in a draw out of a hat (or however they are independantly drawn) is the fairest way.

Like others have said, starting on a Monday morning with a first-to-find-wins is a no-go for a lot of people, especially for people who do this for fun (as a hobby) and still work full time or have kids to get ready for school, etc.

I think by starting it first thing on a Monday morning it encourages people to sit on a computer from that point doing this, when they could be doing other things (this is an example and not at all representative of anyone on the forum whatsoever) such as job-searching if they are unemployed.
Back to comping after a 3-year hiatus :j

Great feedback everyone on page 5! We really appreciate it and there are some good ideas to make everyone's experience better, including ours!

We have printed all of your suggestions out for a brainstorm over the weekend. If we don't have time for major changes this coming Monday we will the following - but we WILL be making the decisions this weekend.

    Thank you all.
  • I prefer the first to find wins too!

If its a random draw then as soon as its found it'll get shared until everyone is in so you don't need to bother looking

Also you can't complain about being at work etc as its a competition for a FREE prize open to everyone so wont suit everyones needs and it wasn't found until Wednesday night anyway so stick with the format
  • I'm doing a complete U-Turn! Haha! Not funny though. Or is it? No.

Seriously though, I think if the little tweaks mentioned are brought in, then I would be in agreement to keep the first to find wins. The cloudbaby holding an S3 was too easy, but other than that it's been a while since people have found the prizes, so as the conservative party like to say about FPTP - if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

But can we please park the suggestions that there's cheating/rigging going on for now? One of our peers was better than us - simple really! Hoepfully he/she will win and be able to tell us all about the lovely kindle touch!
