Is 'right click and open in new window' the same thing as copy and pasting?
I tried this on the TAB pages and can confirm it works (whereas the usual 'open in new window' doesn't).
Think I might use this for all comps in future, just in case.0 -
i wonder if this is why im not winning much?0

Just down to luck I'd say, tinktinktinkerbell
I don't imagine most sites care that we link from here.I drag & drop, out of habit,on every link & my wins have slowed.
Maybe it's down to the increase in entrants recently?0 -

I agree with Weeowens, Tinks.
I hide the referrer header for security on the web more than anything but it's nice that it doubles up for comping.:p
I think it's just luck of the draw and there have been an increase in the amount of entrants too, especially with the newsletter that was sent out the other week.
Sometimes we have dry spells and don't win much and then we have a really good month. Comping should be fun. I always say that if you don't find it fun anymore, then it's time to take a break and come back to it.2019 Wins

In the long search bar, type network.http.sendRefererHeader (or copy and paste it) and then right click, select "modify" and change the value to 0.
Does this affect things like tracking from cashback websites? I.e. the retailer won't know you've come from the cashback website and pay you the money.0 -

Possibly. I'm inclined to say yes. I've never really thought about that before as I don't really use cashback websites so it might not be an option for those who do use them. Either that or just change it back to default everytime you want to go through a cashback website but I'm not sure how the tracking would work i.e. whether it takes a while and the referrer header would need to stay at default for a longer time, at least until the cashback is tracked.2019 Wins

thanks so much for this. really useful information.
I wonder whether they can thin you out of the competition if you don't opt in for newsletters/ mailing lists too?0 -

You're very welcome.
There has been some debate about that, but my view is that if they want you to sign up for their newsletter then they should make the tickbox mandatory.
I personally don't think that you'll be unentered in the competition if you don't sign up, but small companies might do this. I'm not sure.2019 Wins

Any idea if i can change the referrer header for chrome?
Or do I just right click and 'open in new window'
When i click the link, it opens in a new window anyway, I'm guessing this way is tracked though? Confused lol:beer: Thank you to everyone!

I've put it on my chrome and I've tried it against competitions that we wouldn't normally be able to access via MSE such as this one
Before hand, I couldn't access it. Then when I put on the external referrer and refreshed the MSE page and clicked the link it let me through
I'm no computer whizz though and I'm wondering, do they still receive the competition entry when we've got this one?
Thanks!0
