Hi,
I moved jobs last year. I have my P60 from my current employer up to the date of the end of the tax year 11/12. Should I have received a P60 from my employer before that? (which I left in the same tax year).
Thanks

No. You only receive a P60 from an employer that you are with on 5th April. Your previous employer will have given you a P45 with your tax details on it.

Provided that you P45 was for a cumulative tax code and you handed it in these details should appear on the P60 as previous employment details.

Ah - I did see a "Previous Employment" box (which i split up into "Pay" and "Tax deducted") and is next to a box Called "Total For Year". Ive just looked for my P45 but cant find it.

Silly question: Do I still need the P45 if I have the figures in the above boxes filled out?

I presume the Previous Employment box contains the 'total pay' and 'tax deducted' from my previous job? (Another silly question, but I ask because on initial inspection I would have thought the figures would be higher than what they are).

    Thanks

If the P60 was completed correctly in relation to the previous employment, you don't have a real need for an old P45.

Did you leave your previous job on the grounds of redundancy?

Do you have the last payslip from your previous employer?

Did you have other employment in the 2011-12 tax year? If you did, is that employment ongoing or at least not terminated?

    Good, thats just as well!
Did you leave your previous job on the grounds of redundancy?
    No. Why?
Do you have the last payslip from your previous employer?
    Yes. Why?

Your final payslip should have the same figures as the P45. You need to check the taxable gross figure; though may be the same as total gross.
