Hi Everyone,
I want to book a nice meal for my boyfriend's birthday at the end of April.
Does anyone know of any nice restaurants in Wakefield?
I'm not bothered what type of place it is as long as it's a bit classy and does good food.
Thanks

Not strictly wakefield, but at Ingbirchworth (not far from Penistone), there is the fountain Inn, which i can highly recommend - its a gastro-pub and everyone eats i.e. no loud mouth locals propping up the bar. Thr food is not typical pub-grub, and if you wnat to make the night extra special they do a booze and snooze, for about £80 per couple, which consists of 3 course meal and wine (served in their VIP Lounge - which is a very romantic corner a-duex screened off from the rest of the pub. One night in a room in one of their superior rooms and then a full englishbreakfast each in the morning before you leave. Considering that the meal alone would cost you 50-60, then I think that this is tremendous value. Often fancied it ourselves - but can't get away from the kids - lol!0

If you could travel to Whitwood that is near Normanton there is a fantastic pub called the Rising Sun. It has won awards and is not massively expensive and the menu is fantastic.

The Fountain used to be excellent but OH and I, having tried it recently, about 3-4 times, decided it wasn't worth it any more. My work colleagues seem to have come to the same conclusion. Pity, it used to be a really good meal out.

We have been there about 4 times over the past few weeks, and although doesn't seem to be as busy - couldn't fault it. I think the booze and snooze idea is novel and would still be worth it.0

The ex owners of the Fountain have moved to Whitley Hall near Grenoside Sheffield, and still do the bozz and snoozes here. Its in a wonderful location too.

Hi Yorkshirechick,
I can highly recommend Brasserie 99 in Wakefield, it is in the middle of an industrial estate!!! but the food is gorgeous. (do a Google search for it)

I live in Wakefield so hey there!
I like Louie's on Smyth Street, Quo Vadis is also there too a nice italian. Mex Millienium is fantastic for a lively place to go excellent food and big portions! (50% off between 5pm & 7 pm week day evenings and Sun lunch time).
Going outside of town a bit the 2 Acres at Emley is superb and so is the Kaye Arms. Both fancy pub types.
I'll keep thinking2010 is the year of bargain shopping! Time to money save, exercise and plan! I like to keep busy0
