I am seriously trying to cut down on both spending and calories, therefore I am making a real effort from tomorrow (Monday) to take lunch with me, my problem is that I always end up leaving in a hurry and forgetting my lunch and then go and buy something.
In an ideal world, I would like to take a weeks worth in with me on a Monday so I only have to think about it once a week, but I also get bored of eating the same thing over and over.... so I would appreciate some suggestions for stuff I can prepare today that wont go iffy for a days.
I do have a couple of packets of soup for the end of the week (I know its better to make your own but I already have them so therefore free!)
What do you take to work with you?
I have access to a fridge/freezer, kettle, microwave and toaster (but I am trying to cut down on bread as I would live on toast given the option)
Thanks in advance :-)

My OH takes his lunch in every day. I make him "ready meals" by doubling up any suitable recipes I'm cooking for dinners and freezing lunch sized portions in washed out takeaway containers. Anything based on rice, noodles or pasta works best for this I find though mince and tatties is also good. Hubby leaves really early in the am so he just opens the freezer, grabs what he fancies and takes that to work. It's mostly defrosted by lunchtime and then he heats it up in the work microwave.
You can use the same system for these leftover not-quite-a-portion items from dinner too so it's very MS.Val.0 -
Do you have a mobile phone? If so start by setting yourself a daily rolling alarm for 10 minutes before you leave the house. That will stop you forgetting to take your lunch with you.
Your choices really are endless, what type of things do you normally end up buying for lunch? Or what would you like to eat?£36/£240

we have a packed lunch for work thread which has loads of ideas. When you cook your dinners, why not make extra and freeze a portion each time? then you h ave a good variety to choose from. Simply remove from the freezer the night before, I take savoury rices, curry and rice, lentil dahl and rice, soup of all descriptions, couscous salads, pasta to heat up with cheese, leftover lasgane spag bol etc. All healthy as cooked in a low fat way (slimming world friendly)
we also have cooking for the freezer and batch cooking.
Hope these help and i'll merge this later with the first link
zip:AA little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men

If I'm in the same office all week I'll often take in a bag of bagels and some cream cheese/hummus/meats/salad bits to go in them, depending on what I fancy or have handy. Another staple is couscous - sometimes I'll have this with chopped raw veggies, sometimes with a cooked tomato sauce or leftover curry etc. You can also get packets of flavoured couscous which usually last for two days. Take a few of those in and a pack of yoghurts/crisps/some fruit and it should keep you going for a bit!Savings target: £25000/£25000
