Mortgage fees

I redeemed my mortgage with the Alliance and Leicester in January 2005
I was charged an Early Closure Administration Charge of £295:eek: I complained at the time and this was reduced to £195:j . Having read all Martin's comments and the FSA Statement, I wrote last week asking why the fee I was charged was £195, when on the back of my statements it said that it was £75.
I received a letter today stating "Alliance and Leicester first introduced a single administration fee of £195 from 5 January 2004 called the Early Closure Administration Charge and this fee was increased in August 2004 to £295. However, we have decided to reduce the fee payable to customers who took out their mortgage before August 2004 to the original level. Having reviewed our records, I am pleased to enclose a cheque for £120 refunding the difference between the fee in place at the time you took a mortgage with us compared to the £195 fee that was incurred on closure of your account."

Hope that this information will be of use for someone
Thanks Martin :T
