I originally posted in the benefits section but was advised to post here.
Due to mental health issues I gave my employer notice to terminate my employment. Subsequently I visited my GP who advised that I was not in a fit state to make such a decision and to withdraw my notice. At the same time he gave me a Fitness to work form with a period of time off.
I handed this in to my employers as instructed. I received a call from my line manager who advised that she would find out what sick pay I was entitled to and would get back in touch. She did not do this!
Today I received in the post my P45! I can only assume they decided that rather than pay me sick pay they would accept my initial letter and solve the problem!
I feel that given I have been very open about my mental health problems and that I was only going to leave as I felt it unfair on others to have to deal with it, that I have been treated unfairly.
The company is a well known high street store. Not sure if I am allowed to say who they are!
Any thing I can do or did I literally serve them my head on a platter??

At this stage do not name your employer on this forum.
You may have figuratively given them an easy exit from the employment relationship by handing in your notice but you need to find out what actually happened after your line manager spoke with you.
Sick pay could have been included in the P45 - that is it could have been paid for your notice period.
Did your manager also say anything about your notice? Was the retraction sent to the manager or to HR?0 -
My line manager spoke to me on the Bank Holiday Monday after having been on leave for two weeks. She phoned me as she was not aware of what had actually happened.
My P45 only shows a small difference between the August pay and the final pay, probably holiday owed. I do not get access to the final salary slip until the 10th.
The letter was handed to another line manager on the shop floor. Witnessed by a section coordinator.0 -
I have today received a call confirming that I am still employed.0
