Have compared prices on mysupermarket.com and out of the four big supermarkets, Asda is the cheapest at 10p ish per 100g but do Asian shops sell it cheaper? Any info gratefully received.

I would say probably but that it depends on your location.
Have you looked online for places that sell it in bulk?0 -
Cous cous is North African, it's used alot in Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt, etc. I don't see why it would be cheaper in Asian supermarkets, if they stock it at all.0

I have found a bag of cous cous in my cupboard.
Myself and OH have decided/challenged us both that we do NOT need to do any food shopping this week; just use what we have in freezer and cupboards and also hope we get a little more inspired for future weeks.
Also we have NO money to buy any food this week unless we add more debts to what we already have.....which is a NO NO.
So I have this uninspired bag of cous cous staring at me. I have veggie stock cubes, 3 starting to shrivel green peppers, half a jar of green pesto that needs using before it starts going fluffy!! and a punnet of slightly shivelled mushrooms, a punnet of VERY ripe baby tomatoes and the usual HUGE bag eonomy rice and HUGE bag economy pasta.
What can I do with it all?? WE have decided not to go to shops 'til Sat6th and just use what we have PLEASE HELP Oh by the way there is also some tomato puree in fridge.
Thanks (Sorry if I have hi jacked the original posters post so please feel to move me if needs be or delete if necessary; but I just want to make friends with my cous cous!!)0 -
I can buy a 500g box of couscous at Lidl's for about 99 pence which I think is good value.
Janthemum - how about soaking the couscous and adding the pesto, with quickly cooked peppers mushrooms and tomatoes. Or instead of couscous, do this with the pasta.0 -

couscous is lovely made up with a stock cube, and you could stirfry your veg and add it in. If you make plenty it's also nice cold so you could have it for lunch the next day too.0 -
love cousccous but find it needs A LOT of flavourings added -packet soups work well & its soooooo cheap!I THINK is a whole sentence, not a replacement for I KnowSupermarket Rebel No 19:T0

This older thread should give you lots of ideas for using up the cous cous:
