  • One of the best pieces of advice on using facebook etc., that I have seen anywhere: http://www.redundancyforum.co.uk/frequently-asked-questions/5391-facebook-internet-use-mobile-phones-disciplinary-processes/

    ...

Ah, good old SarEl. I miss her, she used to give really good advice on here.
Are the words 'I have a cunning plan' marching with ill-deserved confidence in the direction of this conversation?
  • Why is she no longer here then?

Or am i risking a thread lock by asking that? If so, then don't reply :)

Because she was driven off by trolls and bullies, and refused to give up her time for the likes of them here. If you want advice from her she's on the forum that the link takes you to.
  • Ah there was something i knew i forgot to add....

On the topic of "don't discuss work matters, only non work related matters".

A while ago i broke my leg quite bad. It caused me to have time off work. When i returned i was continuously asked whether i was taking part in activities such as running & sport such as football. I told them no - which was the truth.

It then got irritating when they continued to ask, and ask, and ask, and ask the same damn question over and over. My answer was always no - no running, no football, i'm purely walking or cycling.

It was like they didn't believe me. If they ask 100 times, do they think on the 101st time i'm going to say oh ok then, considering you've asked 100 times, you've now unlocked the real answer - here it is, yes i've been lying & i'm about to go bungee jumping too.

For anyone who has those machines in their gym whereby you can plug your iPod in, you'll probably be aware of nikeplus & how you can upload your workouts to nikeplus - recording your entire cardio workout.

I linked this with facebook to share with friends/family who also do this & we can view each others workout. No harm so far.

The problem then came with it coming up on facebook ......... "i have just synced a RUN of 3k".

It didn't matter whether i was WALKING on a treadmill, cycling on a stationary bike, on a cross trainer, whatever .... it all got uploaded as "i have just synced a RUN...".

I just thought it a bit of an inconvenience & thought no more of it.

I then go in to work after a few of these workouts have been uploaded & i'm getting the following directed at me .........

"i thought you said you don't run? So how was you running 3k yesterday then"?

So then goes the having to explain the nikeplus problem ............... and clearly not being believed, by the look on their faces & the "hmmmm" noises they make.

People LOOKING for a drama!! Pretty sad really.

Which is why the other option is to completely separate work and FB - no colleagues on there at all.

Oh i know - i was just posting a story which shows how sad some people can be. Not happy with life just rolling by, they need to cause a drama to add excitement to their lives. Totally unnecessary!!

How do you tweak who can see what photos of you on fb btw? The old privacy settings were brilliant - you could set pretty much anything individually. Having a look through the settings now, it looks much harder to do that.

See the little "world" or "friends" symbol next to the date on the photo when you open it? click the arrow for a drop down list on that.
