building extension

Hi, can anyone help? If you are extending you house do you have to tell your mortgage people, or can you just go ahead if you have the planning permission

    You must inform and ask the permission of your mge lender, as the works will affect their suriety. (which may be negatively hence the requirement of their permission)

  • You have to tell them, I just rang them up and they sent me a letter saying they were happy (HSBC) - they didn't ask to see plans, etc.
