What time should you get to the park before an event?

  • Can I ask how you got into another arena/venue when you had tickets for the copperbox, or did you have tickets for both venues to start....bit confused, sorry if it sounds a daft q.

We have tickets for athletics stadium on monday (am), and am wondering if we can get to see anything else "live" I do plan to go and see the the big screen area.

We were lucky enough to to get wheelchair basketball tickets at north greenwich arena yesterday, didnt even know there was wheelchair basketball going on elsewhere?

also, what sort of food is on offer insode the olympic park and what sort of cost? at the 02 we paid 8.50 for fairly uninspiring fish and chips, and during the olympics at bt london live food was absoluteyl vile andseriously overpriced - a strict no food and drink policy was in force then.

See post 9 (and the thread about food and drink in the Park). There were Park tickets which gave access to a range of the less starry sports but the athletics and swimming tickets only give you access to those. There have also been Excel tickets which give you access to several sports in one day. Plus the Excel tickets for an individual sport also act as day passes - some of these are still available for boccia.

i had a park onl ticket on thursday , one thing i found is tfl advise you not to travel to stratford on central line or jubilee line and go via west ham as stratford will be really busy .. i went at 9:15 to olympic park from bond street and it was empty and when we got to stratford it was dead quiet same on the way back security was dead quiet at that time too -

  • We were at 10am athletis yesterday and arrived for 8am via the Javelin, no queues, straight through security, breakfast at Mcdonalds ( big queues) into the stadium for about 9.15, but people weres still coming in at 10 or later. Fish and chips and noodles were both £8.50, daughter got a panini which was a bit cheaper. We finished in the athletics about 1.30, had a good wander round and then had to leave at 4 for our train home, but could easily have spent another couple of hours just walking and wandering. Journey home had no hold ups either, couldn't recommend the Javelin highly enough...

Thanks for all the replies, very useful info, really looking forward to it now :)
  • Been through security 4 times at Olympic / Paralympic venues and never waited more than 5 minutes. The army are doing a brillant job at the venues.

But I would say get there early and soak up the atmosphere, especially if you are in the Olympic Park where you can walk around before you go to your event.

We have used Stratford on Jubilee line with no problems. It's a longer walk from West Ham where some advise to get off, but we have used Stratford. It's busy but you are moving all the time.
