HSBC Late payment notification on my Equifax and Experian

HSBC have added a late payment onto my credit reports for both Equifax and Experian, I called to enquire about what had prompted them to do this and after 3 days eventually gotr to the botto of it. On the 29th of July a direct debit was returned and a fee of £10 was placed on my account. I paid the direct debit on pay day ( 2 days later) and thought nothing of it. HSBC say that this constitutes as a late payment on my current account where the direct debit was due to come out of. I've argued my case that this is not a late payment to HSBC, therefore should not be on my credit report which one of their supervisors completely agrees with. Can anyone advise me on the probability of this being removed from my report?
