PC Won't boot up, verifying DMI pool data?

Options
My daughters PC will no longer boot up. One day it worked perfectly fine, the next day it won't. It starts to load, recognises IDE devices then says
"Verfying DMI Pool Data" and underneath that it has a 'Y' with an infinity symbol at the side of it twice, with an underscore flashing as if you are to type something next to it but no keys respond, only beep! Can anyone advise how I can get it to boot up properly please

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
Sounds like a hardware problem... so, you will have to open up your computer to make sure that there is nothing loose.

Do you happen to know what motherboard is installed on your daughters PC?

This is titewads daughter. He said he will have a look in a moment and he opened it up yesterday and took the harddrive out to see if he could rescue anything because I have school work on it and HTML that I have written and he thought it was because the harddrive was dead but it still has life in it but he doesn't have any room on his to transfer anything over so I will let him have a look at it =]

No blue screen normally associated with hardware failures. The only identifying mark on the motherboard I can find is "TYAN" Nothing inside is obviously wrong or loose. As my daughter said, I slaved her harddrive on my PC last night, data is still there. Power to all devices in hers harddrive spins etc. Just won't boot up

Try going into the bios, and reset to defaults (or remove the cmos battery from the motherboard for 5 secs)

Removing Cmos battery made no difference either.I restored defaults again as I had changed them following this message on screen earlier....

    Verifying DMI Pool Data...
    Boot from CD :
    Boot from CD :
    Y.Y. _

    I now have this message

    Updating ESCD ... Success
    Veryfying DMI Pool Data .............
    Y.Y. _

the fullstops after the y are actually infinity symbols on my daughters screen but I don't know how to do them.also the underscore is flashing.

Try disconnecting the CD/DVD, boot, see if you get the error

then do the same with the floppy drive, and then the hard disk

Had already disconnected the CD drive and tried it earlier, same message, just been and disconnected the DVD drive and floppy seperately, same message. I knew it wasn't going to boot by disconnecting the harddrive but tried anyway. I also tried earlier connecting the harddrive and CD drive on the same IDE Channel, still same message

So with no drives attached, and without the cmos battery installed, then boot you still get the same error?

If so, that leaves, ram, motherboard, cpu, and graphics card. In that case, try reseating the ram and graphics card (with all the drives removed).
