Quality Tights

Ok, this morning i managed to make holes in 3(!) pairs of tights before I got out of the door...
They only seem to last me a few wears before there is an incident... am I buying too cheap? Wrong type of tights? I need black that are not too thick - it is still late Summer after all.
I had a pair of pull me in/ sliming type that seemed to have a bit more structure to them and lasted a bit longer, but they were very tight to put on in the morning and kept working their way down my legs during the day (baggy tights at the ankle anyone?) and then finally put my hand through them today.
Give me some recommendations please!

I often have the same problem!
I like tights from Boots, they always seem to work.
Another favourite of mine is tightsplease.co.uk - they are not cheap, but offer some excellent quality tights from a variety of brands.
Also - have a look at M&S ones. The higher end ones (not the value range) are excellent. Look for a high lycra content.0 -
I've never had a problem with New Look's tights. Granted, I don't wear them everyday, but they've lasted me quite a while regardless. For everyday wear you might need to look into something more expensive, I don't know.0

I buy my tights from primark and while the shaping Black tights seem to last me over a month, the sheer tights last maybe 2 weeks at a time.
Still at £2 a pop I am not going to complain so i never buy expensive tights. I think it down to being careful with them and what thickness they are to how quickly they ladder
I wear tights everyday to work (5 days a week)0 -
I wear nude sheer tights for work in the summer and I always seem to be laddering them these days. I often size up to try not to overstretch them but it doesn't seem to be helping. The only thing that seems to work better on me is the flesh coloured tights in the Tabio collection - but they are pattered so wouldn't be to everyone's taste, and they are hugely expensive:

Roll on the winter and opaques, they seem to last forever by comparison.0 -
I wear Aristoc sheer tights if I'm going out. Can't comment on their durability for every day, but they do last me well, I am careful with them and store them back in their plastic bag in the drawer, handwash with liquid soap. I wear cotton gloves sometimes overnight and I pop these on when putting the tights on to avoid snagging them.
Also I think, not yanking them up when you've been to the loo, but easing them up from the lower leg again.
(Sigh!)
Have mentioned it before, but support tights (in different strengths) are barely noticeable as support tights these days and these are extremely durable as they contain a lot of lycra. Boots are good for these and they are not as expensive as buying high end normal tights.

There are 2 pairs in each pack, so worth a try at £3 a pair maybe!0 -
I don't wear tights very often but still have a pair of thin patterned from Accessorize that are 2 years old, their leggings have lasted for 4!
My mum's friend swears by Wolford tights which at around £20 a pop are not cheap but last a lot longer, might save money in the long run. They have them on tightsplease.co.uk as mentioned by previous poster.
I have seen some internet posts that reccommend spraying them with hairspray to prevent laddering but not tried it myself as I'm an occasional smoker and don't want to catch fire!
Steer clear of any supermarket brands all the ones I have tried ladder within the week.
Hope that helps xx0 -
Stockings are great because if you tear one, it's only half the pair!
I buy a bunch of the same ones together, so when one ladders, there are lots of substitutes, and the pair isn't written off.0 -
Thanks all, think I will pay a visit to Boots & Primark and then see how I get on...0

M&S do a pack of five non ladder tights I think they are about £3.50 (value range). Primark ones only ever last me one wear.0
