Cheap vertical blinds anywhere??

As in other thread I want to dye my curtains; to go with my "makeover" I want to bin my grey nets on my 2 full size windows and get CHEAP vertical blinds.

The nets have been washed and washed and i have thrown in bleaches and special whitners and now they are literally falling apart and feel vertical blinds might just lift the room a bit to look abit more modern??

Any ideas anyone; i remember getting a flyer through the door saying two blinds for £99 any size (Im in St Albans area) but cant remember name of company?

Can I get it cheaper anywhere else?

Any thoughts much appreciated:j

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
i fitted vertical blinds a few years ago and got some from blinds 2 go, some from another web company i cant remember the name and also from argos.

The argos ones were good value but are not as opaque as the other ones (i'd recommend getting the samples). I managed to get the longest blinds, cut them and made one pack last for 3 windows.. i just had to buy three rails.

The other thing i'd mention is get blinds which are are controlled by a stick, not by two stings... they tend to get tangled etc...
    ummm...

Was it Hillarys blinds? I responded to a leaflet through the door and my quote for £650 for my 3 bed, 2 reception, 1 bathroom house!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • We first bought 2 sets from argos which came to £120.00 and it ment we had to cut and fit them ourselves. then I saw an ad in the paper 3 sets for £99.00 from Blindhause but we went for the stain and fade resistant version which cost £145.00 which included fitting! I'm not sure if they operate so far south but its worth a try! It could be the same company you saw 2 for £99>

My father in law has just paid more for one blind from "Hillary's" I wish he'd spoken to us first!!!

My vertical blinds were from Hilary's, i paid £240 for five windows(one very large)
we were able to knock them down from the original quote they gave us which was slightly higher.
I get the impression they expect to be haggled with once they give you a price and only wish i had more nerve so i could have tried for an even lower price!!

Some weeks ago Netto were doing self fit blinds for around £20 for 180 cm. They were good quality and easy to fit. Some stores may have some left.
  • I've bought all the blinds for my house from these guys http://www.blinds4uk.co.uk. They stock the same blinds as Hilarys - but much cheaper. Quality is excellent, and price is good too (they're 50% off at the moment)

Ikea Blinds are really cheap . You have to fit them yourself but have just fitted my enormous bay window ( 4 windows )for £45. These are also blackout blinds.

We got our blinds from a local company but had quotes from others

The one thing we found with hilary blinds is they glue them rather than stitch(they used to stitch them but now glue them)
I was told by several blind companies stitching lasts longer glue comes apart after a few years

our blinds open in the middle and have strings to open them

As ours open in the middle they dont bunch one end so i find there better for when im cleaning the windows and ive never had a problem with the rope getting tangled when im opening and shutting blinds

We had our whole house supplied and fitted because a friend of mine said it was quite fiddly and time consuming doing it yourself

Also our blind company does a cleaning service if they need doing for a small cost per window they take them down wash them and put them back up

    Look on ebay

I got one made to measure for my patio door from there. It was £33 delivered. They sent out a large envelope of fabric samples to choose from. It was made and delivered in 3 days too ( some of the big companies take weeks). The fabrics were better than the usual ones included in the likes of Hillarys and included ones with leaf patterns etc. The pockets were sewn too (not glued ).

I was given the choice of opening ( draw to left / right or split in the centre). i could choose the side i wanted the control too ( useful for patio doors as i wanted the slats to draw to the right ,but have the controls on the left near the opening door).

The company i bought from has their own website:
    http://www.blindcorner.co.uk/
Though check if they are still on ebay as it will be cheaper if they are.

This was about 5/6 weeks ago, I went 2 days after the offer started and they had one or two of the cream sets left so I'm sure even the cream ones have gone now, I expect the white ones sold out straight away.
