PPI claim question

Hi Martin / anyone else who can assist.

Im not sure if I can put in a claim for a mis sold PPI or not.

Heres the thing. Ive been with my bank for the last 12 years. in around 2003 I got a loan from them. I paid regularly however I lost my job a few months down the line and ended up missing payments. Then I ended up paying an "agreed" amount in monthly installments and finally cleared my debt with them in 2010 or something like that. I realised recently that I had PPI on there and it was never took effect when I lost my job. (I have no paperwork from the loan or PPI as I was a student at the time. However I have bank statements which date back to 2003)

Now, I have a Cc with them and I have a second loan (this time with no PPI as they have stopped doing PPI's).

Would I be eligible to claim mis-sold PPI? considering I didnt pay off the loan?

Cheers

How many months down the line did you lose your job? Did you inform them at the time that you had lost your job?

Being 'sold' PPI when a student would seem to me to be grounds for a claim.

Note however that if successful the lender could use the PPI refund towards the amount of repayments they had previously written off (according to some people's experience reported on here).
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

Well I was a student but working at the same time.

And If i do claim, what happens about my existing loan and amount on my Cc? surely thats affected somehow? couldnt they just turn around and demand it all be cleared off immediately?

cant remember if im honest. But when they chased me for 1 missed payment, I told them I had lost my job. and if im not mistaken they said there was nothing they could do. But I can't be sure of that.
