getting a UK mortgage

I am a French national, living and working on the Isle of Man but trying to get a mortgage in the UK to buy a house due to new job there. I have been advised by HSBC that I cannot get a mortgage in the UK until I am a UK income tax payer (paying manx tax at the moment). Is this the case with all banks in the UK?
Thanks!

Have you got a contract offer and employment contract from the UK company?
If so, there will be solutions depending upon your deposit value as a % of proposed purchase price although it will not be easy..
