Oh what a shame you can't go. I wonder if tickets could be upgraded (I've heard they can) - but would be taking a risk for someone other than ticket purchaser to try.....

Even if I'm on the shopping threads, it doesn't mean I'm buying! Sometimes it's good to just look and then hit the CLOSE button!
  • Hi

I also tried to resell our tickets, but have been told we're too late - the advice on the helpline was to try and sell them!

We've got two adult and two child tickets for the athletics on Saturday 8th - morning session. Please let me know if you would like them - ideally we'd like face value for them (£70 in total).
  • I have also been unable to put my wheelchair basketball tickets up for resale on the official site.

They are email and print ones, two adults £10 each for Saturday 08th 1pm-5pm.

Please private message me asap if interested (I might be slow to reply as at the Excel Centre tomorrow, but I will check on my phone and try and reply to anyone as quickly as possible).

  • Out of interest, has anyone successfully done a deal with a first-time poster?

I'm surprised by the numerous people on here who have said they have been unable to put their athletics tickets up for resale. This is a high demand event and my athletic tickets were available for resale even a few hours before the actual event itself. I was unable to put on resale another event a week into the future and when I called to discuss this as I wanted to put another event on resale, I was informed it was because athletics tickets would most probably sell but the others wouldn't.

Also, the 7 day rule is actual nonsense. If you manage to get them in time while the button is activated, they actually keep them on the website until a day before the event unless there's way too many available. My friend's one sold just hours before his event and that was for swimming.

My one sold two working days before the event.

For anyone who has resold, be aware that they don't come back straight online and also they aren't always released together. They release these in batches which means you have to hope your tickets release in time and that people buy the seats.

The whole London2012 ticketing system is complete shambles. I've never experienced such atrocity in trying to resell tickets. Had I know it would have been difficult, I would have just resold to friends who I knew who were after tickets. To make it worse, there is no media on this although I am sure thousands of people are incurring problems.

Also for those who were asking about upgrading tickets, it is indeed possible. I had the same issue. You need to go to the box office of the venue on the day or day before the event and explain you want to upgrade. The original card holder and the account holder need to be present and you need photo ID to do this. They will need the original ticket back which they void and they change this to an adult ticket and you need to pay the cash difference in person either by a Visa card or money. You can also exchange senior to child and child to senior. Here is an FAQ that they sent in an e-mail to my friend. Maybe available on their site:

I have a child/senior ticket: can I upgrade it to a standard ticket?

Yes. On the day of your event you should go to the box office at your venue, where the ticket can be upgraded and payment taken for the difference in the price originally paid. We strongly recommend you do this before the day of your event or arrive early on the day to request the upgrade. Please be prepared to queue. View box office information http://www.london2012.com/spectators/tickets/box-office

I've become quite abit of an expert (if I say so myself) on ticket reselling and the London2012 website, but, only because I faced so many issues with them and has taken me well over two weeks to resolve. I absolutely loved the Paralympics and it was an amazing experience, one that I will never forget, but the handling of the tickets is the most awful customer service I've come across and the shoddy systems they've had in place that don't work that I have ever seen. There are a few gems that work for London2012 but they are hard to find.
