Brand Loyalty v Variety

Are any of you loyal to any particular brands of make up / face & body products etc or do you find yourself getting tempted by the latest special offer? I've been wondering if one way to reduce my large stash of products would be to limit myself to particular brands and refuse to get tempted by the offers from others.
Has anyone else tried this, and if so, did it work and what brands did you go for? I've been pondering and I think I reckon the minimum I would get by on is 5 brands:
Aveda for Hair care and styling products
Ren for skin care (face and body)
OPI for Nail care
Crabtree and Evelyn: Hand care (it's the scrub they do - love it)
Bare Escentials for make up
But as soon as I write that down I then start thinking.... oooh, but I love L'occitane body products, and what about Clinique make up (especially the chubby gloss sticks)...
Maybe I've just explained why my stash is so large!!

Some of my best finds have been one of tries, and i do not use any complete 'set' from any range, i use the best serum from me from one place is better complimented by a moisturiser from another for example.
I use different produ ts on my hair too, and my face.0 -
I like to try different brands - mostly trial and error. I do find that the more expensive brands are the best unfortunately for skin care and hair care but I do mix and match my make up0

I'm very loyal to some brands - it would take a lot of persuasion to tear me away from my Naked shampoos as I'm allergic to most others and haven't found another SLS-free one that's half as good (and affordable!).
For makeup and skincare I'll try anything though - my face seems rather more forgiving than my scalp! Although I'm yet to find any eyeshadow as good value as Sleek, I think I really need to just give up on other brands by now really.Kate.0 -
I wouldn't same I am brand loyal, but if I am happy with a product I tend to stick with it. If I am searching for a new product then I will tend to look amongst my currently used brands first and then branch out if no luck finding something that suits me.
I don't tend to have one range across my hair/skincare routine though. Think it currently looks something like this.
Morning cleanser: No7
Toner: Boots
Day cream: Origins
Night cleanser: Origins
Serum: Soap & Glory
Night cream: L'Occitane (just working my way through using up all the creams that were too ruch when I tried them for day time).
Body care tends to be Superdrug as I don't have the same need for the products to 'perform' (their Vitamin E body cream rocks though!) so cheap is good. I am more likely to go for variety over brand loyslty here though as I can be tempted by any shower gel that smells good because it doesn't need to be specific to my skin type. Also it's generally cheap so not expensive to make a mistake unlike buying a face cream.0 -
Nope, I am a total brand tart!
I also find I get used to a certain product, else my needs have changed and the product no longer meets them.
I can't think of any exceptions, bar perfume tbh. I was a devotee of Boots P&P for a few years, but am now getting better results from Estee Lauder Resilience Lift. I love YSL perfect Touch foundation, but am finding EL Doublewear pretty amazing now. I liked Mac cream blush, then found Bobbi Brown's was less sticky. Had a free Chanel Dolls Eyes mascara I loved, til I tried a sample size Benefit Bad Gal. And so on......!!
My main proviso is that I insist on taking away samples, having the product applied instore and going away to ponder it etc. I rarely make impulse purchases high end. Just too much money to risk.0
