The Spend Free September NSD Challenge

  • Hi All,

Been so organised with my spending (or not as the case may be), that although racking up the NSD's haven't reported them:o

Lastest count for me is 16 NSDs and 10 in a row.

Need to put petrol in the car tomorrow but fortunately that can come out of last week's budget so won't count as a spend:D:D:D

My latest trick is to make sure that after any spend, all £1 coins go into a locked money box (anything smaller goes into the squander money jar for the odd pint of milk, etc.). That way if I get tempted to buy that chocolate, newspaper or whatever and only have a note available I effectively "lose" £4 to the savings box - it's still empty:rotfl::rotfl:

  • Just had a call bout the job I really wanted and they have decided not to progress my application to 2nd stage interviews :o whilst it's disappointing, I got really good feedback - they said there was nothing I could change with my interview to improve my chances and if another role came along they wouldn't hesitate in contacting me so :D Just one of those, other candidates more qualified/experienced than you things.

Awwww pants ...... good to know that there was nothing "missing" IYKWIM and that they may be back in touch - fingers crossed for next time xx

    No 13 for me today.

Thanks all for the "get well" messages to my finger and knee (still wondering what I'm going to do for the third injury:eek:).

Knee is black & blue (I must have landed much harder than I originally thought :o) and the finger ..... well, errrrr it's not looking totally horrible but think I may have to stick one of those butterfly stitch things on (luckily I got some in the £ shop the other day ;)) as it keeps splitting open all the time & it's not getting a change to knit together :( (and it hurts to type!)

Been a fantastic day here today but def colder - had my scarf on when I took Maisie out 1st thing. Wonder how long I can last without putting the heating on (must have a hunt for the thread about it!) - .

Had a lovely walk on the beach this afternoon:

Day off today, so did an Ald1 shop first thing (good idea, not so crowded at 08:50 am) then changed bed linen, trimmed some shrubbery in preparation for the garden bin collection tomorrow, made some roasted butternut squash and sweet potato soup for lunch (luvverly with a couple of crumpets. Kept OH quiet, anyhow, so must have been good) then schlepped my way to the library in the village to change my books and DS's books. En route got stung to hell foraging blackberries amongst monster sized stinging nettles. Only got a few berries, but enough for a blackberry and apple crumble at the weekend. Toad in hole for dinner, and revamped the old barnet with a box of hair colour £1.99 from HB.

So, although not a NSD due to the morning shopping, I still did my bit for frugality. There is enough soup left for about 6 portions, and it is snuggling its way down in the freezer as we speak. And my hair has turned out well without spending too many ££££s.

So, once I have finished catching up on the MSE gossip, I will complete my venture into gorgeousness by having a luxurious shower before catching up on the Great British Bakeoff.

Work tomorrow, so must not burn the midnight oil. Methinks I spy another NSD lurking somewhere in the next 24 hours...

JCG - sorry to hear about the job x

Well I had a rubbish time at boot camp today - particular session i don't like and just didn't have my mojo with me, plus I am a bit sore from yesterday so all in all a bit pants. Considering going on Thurs to make up for it (though I'm back at pole that night and last time I did that it nearly did me in)

Missed out on a NSD today, picked up some puff pastry for £2.50  needed some for a pie top to go with whoopsie beef (reduced beef, I haven't just invented a new cut :rotfl:) and reduced stout and mushroom sauce. Was very nice though, pastry perhaps needed a little longer and I could've prob used a little less but on the whole a succuess - and enough for me and OH tomorrow night too (assume it will be ok if I re-heat in the oven?)

Also been busy sorting out xmas presents, need to pick up some preserves from a local farm estate tomorrow, and some local honey (finally found some) from another farm shop too (they close for the season on Thurs so that was cutting it fine ) also dropped off some bits to a local artist who's doing a bespoke canvas for my niece (saw her work at an art market in May and contacted her, so she's going to tie in the design to the colour scheme and wallpaper in my nieces room). Was thinking tomorrow might be spendy, but if I use funds from my xmas savings it won't count, and I prob don't have time to do anything else.

Sorry for the long post, off to make a brew - fancy some crumble but cannot be arrised to make it tonight so it might be a ginger nut instead :D
