I've noticed asda smart price items have disappeared from my online shopping basket so its the more expensive things or nothing. Dog food went up over 50p in one week! The cat food was the same. I now do most of my shopping in aldi, it used to just be for odd things now it's a trolleys worth and I'm always surprised how little I spend.(though I do shop with a regimented list with all the prices next to things!)2013 NSD 100. I'm really proud of myself. Today I did my weekly shop in Aldi. It's the first time ever I didn't need to detour to Sainsbury's on the way home for a top up.
ETA: did go to Farmfoods beforehand but that was for Ribena and frozen leeks for storecupboard/freezer, so weekly foodshop done at Aldi!:T0 -
Well done Maman! Aldi opened in my (and Popperwell's) town, a year ago this month. I use both Aldi and Heron to maximise the savings I make. Farmfoods is similar to Heron, Gailey, so you haven't missed too much, but we don't have Farmfoods locally.
Most towns the same size as ours have more shops, particularly discounters, but I am so grateful to have both.
I got taken off the MrT testing panel as I hardly go in now except for the reduced stuff, but it was a small price to pay for paying smaller prices elsewhere.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
I am so  just gone on to do my usual online asda shop and the cat food that i have been buying, which had not been on offer, has gone up by 94p  It is getting harder and harder to keep costs down.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0

i have managed to do 7 evening meals for less than £20 but not managed to do it too include breakfasts and lunches .... although for £25 a week i think i could probably do it for lunches and breakfasts too ... i think i may do a trial run next week and try and do a whole weeks shop for less than £30 all in ... this would be challenging myself and i may find ways to cut back to get it closer to the £20 ... but with food prices constantly rising i think £30 to feed 4 would be more do able ... what do you lovely people think ?200 weeks £25,000.00 / £7000

I think that's brilliant.:T I thought you were talking about £20 rising to £25 to feed ONE person (I work on a budget of £50 for two). To do that for 4 is amazing IMO. Do share your meal plan.0 -
