witholding telephone number

Options
I've got a noob question that i'm not sure has been answered before...

What telephone number do you use for comp entry?

1, I dont want to use my home number as ive had loads of problems in the past with nusance phone calls.

2, If i use a made up number will they call it if i win and give up because it's a dead number. Therefore loosing my win.

3, i dont want the hassle of another mobile number.

4, I have been entering either just a "1" or "don't have 1" in the telephone number field but dont know if i'll be disqualified.

Please compers give me some advise!! :A

I use my mobile for radio stations, ITV and ones which state we will only call you to win. Other than that I use my comping phone which is always switched off.

Although Ive not had any problems with cold callers... it is really up to you which you use and whether you enter a mobile. An email address is usually enough for them to contact you other then ones mentioned above :) xx

Hi and welcome. I was worried about this too when I started comping. For me, I never use my mobile number (other than for extra chances to win ITV comps) because I would so hate marketing calls and texts to my mobie. So I use my landline and hardly get any marketing calls. There are some comps that will call, but if you give any new comp a few hours for the more experienced compers to have a peek, they'll usually tell you if it's likely to generate calls/spam, etc. Tip: always read through all the posts before entering the comp. Good luck :)

    Hi,

I just enter my (main) mobile number. I don't really get nuisance calls tbh. I can't even remember the last time i got one that was related to a competition i entered.

I do get spam texts though and yes they are annoying, but i just ignore and delete.

I used to have a comping phone, but i just couldn't deal with having two phones.

I wouldn't advise you to withhold your telephone number. I've been notified of my best wins by phone (even when i have supplied my email address on the original competition entry form.)

i use both my moby & home number for comps such as ITV comps/any that we have to put both
& have a moby only used for text comps etc,
obviously still get a few spammy text replies but they are few & far between, if i get on moby calls such as trying to sell subs/timeshare/etc i just politely tell them i'm not interested & switch off,
am also signed up to the TPS to stop nuisance calls

  • I have an old payg phone that I use just for comping. Very little credit on it and never top it up I feel safer using this than my contract phone just in case I was to ever enter a dodgy competition that could run up a hefty bill. I do also use my home phone number for some comps.

I use my main mobile number for all competitions. Been comping for nearly a year, and touchwood, and so far haven't had a single sales call or anything. I do get the odd text about claiming PPI or accident claims but my sister, who doesn't comp, also gets them. I just delete
