Genuine question about the X. Couldn't see which thread to tag onto, sorry to make a new one about a hot topic ...
Does this mean that people open every thread?
I don't know about anyone else but I can tell whether I would enter just by hovering over the thread title - so why would I open it just to tick that I wanted to skip/not enter/whatever else people are using the X for?
p.s I'm using FF, usually use IE9 and my font keeps changing. Anyone know why?!

That was my thought too, I still can't really see the need for it myself.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

I have found it great for marking posts that look promising from the title (ie win ipad) but on opening I do not want to enter for what ever reason, it saves me keep seeing them and opening thinking I have missed them. I do not open every thread just ones that look promising / temptingWater is a basic necessity - not for profit0

I dont hover I open multiple tabs on each page then work through them.Water is a basic necessity - not for profit0

I suppose everyone comps in different ways. I also hover over the title and don't bother opening the thread if it doesn't appeal to me.Luck is believing you’re lucky – Tennessee Williams

I use multiple tabs and I'm opening all comps just to X the ones I'm not interested in. I'm a bit OCD like that.:o2019 Wins

hiya, i open most threads as sometimes the op hasn't put F/B, Twitter/blog/etc on the title &/or if the prize looks interesting sometimes even if you 'hover' on the post it doesn't say, so end up clicking on the link to find it's one i'm not interested in/is one that's to be live on radio etc, i can then press the X button to show me i've looked at it & am skipping it
then when i refresh to check over the pages from whenever the X tells me i've looked at it & am not needing to check back on it iyswimplease be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
I agree with Firefly.... When i look at threads, i used to click entered, (evern when I hadn't) to stop myself re-opening them at a later date. The X means I can click on it but then mark as read and not entered.

You can't always tell if the competition is for you until you fully open it sometimes. There was a competition for a bed recently but until opening I didn't know that they wouldn't deliver where I live.Lost my soulmate so life is empty.
I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -
