I have just found some old GMAC mortgage documentation. My memory is suggesting they have been fined and ordered to repay charges to customers
It looks like I paid a redemption fee and an early repayment charge am I able to challenge these?

As long as its as per your mortgage offer then no. Early redemption charges are fair.
GMAC were fined over the treatment of the arrears charges on customers, not Early Redemption Charges.0
