Survey comps question

There's lots of competitions where you have to fill in a survey to enter.
Do you answer truthfully or do you just click any answer? Do you fill them in even if you don't think it's relevant to you?

If it's a survey I'm interested in i.e. music or photography then I'll answer truthfully, but if it's just something I'm not that bothered about, then I'll just tick anything.:o
I also tend to avoid 10 minute or longer surveys because I just don't have the stamina or brain power to be able to do them alot of the time!2019 Wins

same as LM, if it's something i'm realy interested in then will go through it properly & be honest, but if it's a realy boring one about something i don't realy know much about/&/or am not sure of i just tick anything  hate it when you try to 'skip' & they make you go back
though thankfully a few of them are skipable ones, i did win one that was about tv programmes & as i hardly ever watch tv & had ticked anything, got a right shock when they let me know i'd won :rotfl:
please be a responsible pet owner & spay/neuter your pets, too many strays & not enough homes for them sadly.0 -
It depends a little on the prize and how meaningfully I can respond.
If it's clearly not meant for me right from the start then I won't enter, even it's for a prize I really want. So if it's about boats, I will pass as I know nothing about owning a boat.
If they're asking for site feedback, sometimes I will just tick good/excellent, but if they want written answers I will either research their site - for a really good prize, or will close the survey.
However, some surveys are set up really badly, so it's not until you're half way through that you realise this isn't for you. When that happens I figure it's their fault and I'm not wasting time spent, so I finish the survey as neutrally as possible.
With voting ones, e.g. vote for your favourite beauty product, I'm far more likely to wing it, because I think voting comps are flawed anyway - unless they allow you to skip any/all.
Great topic our lassI am brave, I am bruised

For me exactly the same as BluBlu!
My attentions span for surveys are about 3 minutes, after that I just click excellent for everything unless it's something I'm really interested in!Jan:£500 Cottage,TNA tix,Vodka party.Feb:Starwarstix,Tshirt,Hammerfest,

I only do them if I can be bothered or the prize is a good prize. I wouldnt spend 10 mins filling one out if the prize is for a £10 voucher. I also avoid those that are nothing to do with me or anything Im interested in. I do try to give honest answers where I can though.Current Aims: Laptop/PC, decent money, holiday
Best Wins: Ipad, Nintendo 3DS, £400 Shopping Spree at LK Bennett, £100 Boots vouchers
Total Wins (Since April 2012) £3442.56
Big thanks to all who post comps :T:beer:0 -
Many surveys are terribly designed with questions that are impossible to answer truthfully. Best one I remember had something like....
*What is your salary?
a) £50,000 - £99,999
b) £100,000+
... and it wouldn't let you proceed unless you ticked one of the two boxes.
You also get less extreme ones such as:
*1) Do you own an Xbox360? Yes/No
*2) Where did you purchase your Xbox360? Online/Shop
I always start answering surveys truthfully and conscientiously - only skipping questions that don't apply, but on meeting stupidity like the examples shown I will skip as much as possible and answer wrongly wherever an answer is required.0 -
Thanks for the replies. The reason I ask is because of a friend who works in marketing asking me if I thought adding a prize (like Amazon vouchers) to a survey she was supposed to carry out - for a relatively small business - would generate more responses.
I said, yes it would but don't rely on the data you receive
I always wonder what people think of their data when people have just ticked any old box :think:0 -
If it helps, I have won two survey comps, and both times they were surveys where I had knowledge of the subject (e.g I won £200 from a Coca Cola survey after explaining to them in detail how I became hooked on Diet Coke after going on a low carb diet. Unsurprisingly they found that valuable information!)
It could be random luck, of course, but that's what's happened for me.0
