Creases in velvet curtains

I have some new curtains - Signature Velvet from Next - and they have been hanging for a week and the fold creases have not dropped out.

They came with a note saying that because of the way they are folded the eyelets might leave marks and it is best not to try to iron them out, but leave them to fall out naturally - but they haven't!

I'm thinking of just running some steam from the steam cleaner over them - what do you clever old stylers think??

Don't put the steamer too close...

    you'll scorch the fabric otherwise...

So - I steamed one pair - it made no difference. I emailed Next and they just said return them if you are not satisfied. Which is fair enough, except I really like the curtains, it took me ages to choose them and I just want them to look smooth and not crumpled. Don't suppose i have an option really.

  • Maybe try using a brush to perk up the nap? A clean toothbrush would be ideal.
  • Just a line to say the curtains went back and I had a refund - Next Complaints Dept were very helpful
