Best places for women's work wear??

Hi all,

Just wondering where women buy their office work wear from? I've just started a new office job and I'm after some stylish pieces which I can mix and match for work!

Problem is, so many places are really expensive! I've bought items from Next before only to find that they shrink/fade in the wash, so I'm trying to find quality blouses and pretty (but suitable) tops for work.

What do money savers do when they are on a budget?

Thanks in advance :)

    Car Insurance Carver!
Try Matalan or Asda ( George) they both have some smart office type clothes.
Good Luck in the new job.

I bought a lot of my work wear from Tesco, shift dresses, shirts/blouses and trousers. Really good quality and nicely priced.

My work wear is a mixture of Karen Millen (the outlet village!) and Matalan Clearance.

You would think they'd look vastly different but actually some clever mix and matching works a treat - I get just as many complements on my £6 Matalan dress with £1 'silk' scarf and £1 heels as I do wearing a £25 (reduced from £105) Karen Millen dress with knee-high boots

You can try Banana Republic or Debenhams. M&S also have sale going on selected lines, i am sure you can find something good there. And there always a good cashback to fall back upon to maximise your savings

I think it depends on your office. My mum works in an office and I have worked in various offices, at no point ever would what she wears to her office be suitable for the office positions I've had.

Zara, Next, M&S Autograph, Banana Republic, John Lewis and Debenhams are worth looking at and also don't forget ebay. If you find a brand you like it gives you something to search for on ebay.
Also don't forget TKMaxx which has quite a wide range of brands. Its normally a bit of a jumble sale but if you can set aside the time and know what sort of thing your looking for you should be OK.

    Thanks for all the responses!
I've not heard of Banana Republic before but will have a look :)
I've managed to find a few bits and pieces on Ebay luckily but will be a good starting point to build up a working wardrobe.

Does anyone find Next's sizes aren't accurate? I'm a size 12 but can get into a size 8 there! The tops are huge!

I can take or leave Matalan, I've found the quality isn't always great and stuff doesn't seem to last long from there....

Tesco is a bit hit and miss! I've bought some lovely tops from there in the past but they don't always have a great selection to choose from.

I've been trawling the charity shops as well and occasionally find a few decent tops for bargain prices which I can wear for work.

Will keep up the search :)

Sulk. So that is why I can get in those smaller size Next jeans.

I find sizing everywhere a bit hit and miss.

Ebay can be really good. Charity shops can be fantastic, especially for smaller sizes.

Matalan are cheap, but I have had some very good buys from there - for instance they currently have a smart straight style shift dress for winter in black or red which looks really smart with a jacket.

I would do a standing search on ebay for jigsaw jacket 12 or zara jacket 12 and see what happens.
  • Ive always found some lovely workwear from Tesco and Asda and they last quite a while too. Also Primark have some good basics you can buy like trousers or shirts
