Hi guys, just wondering if anyone has ever or is a driver for DPD, have been in warehousing for the last 10 years and need to get out.
I've just sent in an application form and am just wondering if anyone has ever worked for them.
Cheers

I worked as a Linehaul driver when it was Parceline. Have you applied for Collection and Delivery or Linehaul? Linehaul, if you have a HGV license, is a breeze but very tedious driving down to Smethwick 5 nights a week.
C&D is mental - I'd not do it and I was a truck driver for nearly 20 years. You get a stupid amount of drops/collections - typically around 100 a day - and around 10hrs to do it however with sorting, loading/unloading it ends up being a 12hr day. Sounds easy to do 100 drops in 10hrs but the depot doesn't just cover the town it is nearest. My local DPD depot covers all the YO and HU postcodes. The furthest point away from the depot is nearly a 2hr drive. So you'd have a 2hr drive, then 100 drops/collections and then have a 2hr drive back and you need to be back by 6pm in order for collections to make it onto the night trunk. So you effectively have 6-7hrs to do 100 drops/collections.0 -
I do multi-drop but I only do up to 22 drops a day.
This does'nt apply to me but I know the likes of DPD, UPS, FedEx etc. will sometimes deliver maybe 10+ parcels to one address and alot of addresses are repeat customers so you'll be going there weekly, sometimes daily.
I'm not sure if different companies pay per item or just hourly but if you do 10+ drops at one address you can soon make some money. It is a hard job, there's no denying it and yes I think you'll be doing 10-12 hour days but you'll get a patch/area and once you've been doing it for a while you'll know certain addresses like the back of your hand.
I saw either UPS or FedEx advertsing last week and it was something like £9.90 an hour rising to £12.00 but that was out of Tamworth. Do a Google search for COD forum, it's Courier Owner Drivers. Most of them have worked for a company before they went self employed, they'll give you more info0 -
TNT pay their drivers £30k p/a.
Can I just ask a daft question ?. If a driver delivers 10 parcels to one address, would this be classed as 1 drop or 10 ?.Never Knowingly Understood.

It depends on the company.0
