Suggestions for a decent compact (£300 - £400)

I am a DSLR user, i have a sony a580 which i do love. my lenses are:
tamron 17 - 50mm f2.8
tamron 70 - 300mm usd
minolta 50mm prime f1.7
My problem is i do love photography but with the above equiptment i tend to find i dont take it many places due to the size / weight
I have found that the only time my camera now gets out is for a specific event or holiday which i know is pre planned, i tend not to just take it places for the sake of it which i would like to, but find it a hassle.
Not sure if i will be making a big mistake but i am looking to maybe sell my current camera and lenses and with the money invest in a good compact camera.
I am guessing i may get around £400+ if i sell all my stuff (not sure exactly, thats just a guess as i do have other little bits i would be selling with it)
So my questions are:
am i nuts for thinking all this?
if not, then what suggestions would i be looking at for a decent compact around £300 - 400 i may possible look a little more than £400 depending on how much i would get for my current camera etc..
A few years ago i did have a Panasonic lumix tz8 i think it was? i thought this was a pretty nice compact at the time, not sure what the current lumix cameras are like?
I guess the main areas i would be looking at on a new compact would be a decent sensor, decent optical zoom, possibly a good (low) f-stop if there are any that have decent lenses that have this? i guess also a camera that allows good user control and isn't all fully automatic.
Or am i asking for too much?
James

I think the latest from Panasonic is tz30
Or may be sony HX20V if you get used to sony.
    Both at around 250

However, I think Jessops have the old tz20 on sale at 150, such that you may not need to sell you kit.

BTW, don't compare your DSLR with compact...

Canon S100 is a good shout for your budget, otherwise if you can stretch to a little more the RX100 is probably the best compact around right now.
