Nationwide mortgage "cancelled as requested" - but not requested!

Options
We had a text last week to say our mortgage application had been successful and that we would be receiving it shortly. I've just had another message today saying that our application has been cancelled as requested - only we have not requested that it be cancelled. I've just tried to call Nationwide but their mortgage people aren't in today, so they can't help. Anyone ever seen anything like this before?!
We applied through a broker, who is also not working today.

Don't worry. If it is an error then it will be reinstated.

Did you amend anything on the application?

No, not unless our broker has changed something without telling us.

Has your broker given any indication prior to the bank holiday that everything wasn't rosy?

If it's any consolation I had a couple of odd messages from Nationwide on Thursday staying that an AIP I submitted was accepted, then 2 minutes later it was declined and when I called the service centre it hadn't even been looked at (a paper AIP)

Sadly you're going to have to wait for your broker to open tomorrow and call them to get them to sort it all out. If it's a genuine error Nationwide should just reinstate without any further fee's.

The broker seems to think the cancelled application is our previous one that expired in July (originally made last December), but is double-checking.
