I've seen an advert for the above company and think I have reason for a claim, is there any way I can do this myself to avoid the 25% cut the company want to take??

Yes you can make a claim yourself but you should not underestimate the effort involved or the time it might take. MSE have recently publish a guide for those wishing to investigate making a claim.
