Best "value" tablet with large screen?

Hi,

My wife has been hinting about getting a tablet for Christmas. Neither of us are particular afficionados of Apple and she'd be quite happy with a fairly cheap Android one.

But at 52, her eyesight isn't what it used to be and although she has a decent smartphone she hates having to zoom in on pages e.g. to enter details in a box. The Nexus 7 seems to be getting rave reviews but I'm worried it's a bit small and am considering a 10" screen or thereabouts.

Main requirements would be: 1) wireless Internet surfing (we have good fast cable broadband), 2) not too fiddly to type on, 3) ability to print (which I believe is tricky with iPads) 4) ease of use, intuitive set-up.

I'd love some recommendations. Budget is probably around £100-£150 but I'd stretch a bit further to get the right thing rather than waste £150 on something unsuitable.

Some tablets have HDMI output so they can work with a large screen telly. Unfortunately that means a wire, but it might be useful for initial setting up, watching streaming video etc.

One of the shopping channels was demo'ing a Joytab recently, comes with a protective cover which is also a tactile keyboard/stand for typing in a 'laptop' mode.

You might also want to look for one with a rear camera - then with the apppropriate app your wife can use it as a digital magnifier for reading small print.

Is a cracking value tablet, and the 4:3 ratio is best imo, just be aware that when stock arrives, there will be hundreds of different chinese versions of the tablets with near identical specs for less money - possibly as low as £99, as 7" capacitive tablets have dropped as low as £35 recently.

Thank you...some good suggestions there. I'm leaning towards the Sumvision Astro for now, but going to think a while longer.

Had a Sumvision Astro 7 inch Android for a few months now bought via ebuyer, over the moon with it and got it for £78 delivered. Perfect for browsing the net and hooking up to the TV to watch movies and football etc, you need a mini HDMI to HMDI cable then all is good. In general the tablet is fast, easy to use and excellent value for money
